This last Sunday my wife and I led a discussion with the 12-year-old’s Sunday school class on 1 Corinthians chapter 12. This chapter has been a favorite of mine since I sat in their seats. If you are unfamiliar, in this chapter Paul sermonizes on the idea of spiritual gifts and gives his Body of Christ metaphor. Says Paul to the Christians at Corinth- “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ…. For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
